Barns At Chicken Farm In Weld County Go Up In Flames
ROGGEN, Colo. (CBS4) - A fire at a chicken farm in Weld County was putting out a lot of smoke Monday afternoon and killed a lot of chickens.
According to a witness four chicken barns were burning at Boulder Valley Poultry near Roggen. Strong wind was blowing smoke hundreds of feet into the air.
Firefighters said there were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to other nearby barns.
Crews don't have a good estimate on how many chickens were lost.
The Southeast Weld Fire Department were on scene, assisted by Wiggins, Platteville, Fort Lupton and Hudson firefighters.
Boulder Valley Poultry is listed as a private company categorized under wholesale eggs. The farm was established in 1994 and employs 35 people.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
