Pharmacy Robbery Suspect Seen Wearing Wig, Glasses

LONE TREE, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Lone Tree are looking for a pharmacy thief wanted for stealing $12,000 worth of narcotics.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video robbing the Safeway in the 9200 block of Lincoln Avenue in Lone Tree. Police said it's difficult to get an accurate description of the man because he was wearing a wig and fake glasses.

Police said the thief entered the locked pharmacy room with a key and stole 3,400 pills compiled from six different types of prescription pain killers including Vicodin, Percoset and oxycodone.

"It appears that he may be looking out the clear glass portion to see if anybody's watching to see when he can exit," said Lone Tree Police Commander David Brown.

The Safeway store was open when the burglary occurred but the pharmacy had closed just minutes before. The suspect was able to grab the pills and walk undetected through the front door.

"I would imagine with that many narcotics it would be my guess that they would probably try to sell them," said Brown.

Brown confirmed that part of the investigation includes the possibility that the thief works or may have worked in the pharmacy at one time.

The retail value for the stolen pills is estimated at $12,000. On the street each pill can be sold for $5 to $20, about three times its retail value.
