Alert Trooper Pulls Over Deadly Hit & Run Suspect

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police have arrested a suspect in a deadly hit-and-run on Interstate 25 early Sunday morning.

Sonny Jackson with Denver police said the incident happened on I-25 near 20th Street. He said police received several 911 calls about a man laying on the highway around 3:15 a.m. A Colorado State Patrol trooper later noticed a vehicle with damage and pulled over Uriel Lopez-Ramirez, 20.

"The Trooper contacted the Denver Police Department to see if a recent auto-pedestrian accident was being investigated," Jackson said in a statement.

Lopez-Ramirez is being held for investigation of reckless driving, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The victim's name has not been released.
