Attorney To Be Sentenced For Felony Theft
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) -- A Breckenridge attorney who went missing for nearly five years is scheduled to be sentenced after pleading guilty to felony theft.
Royal "Scoop" Daniel is due back in court on Thursday. He faces 4 to 12 years in jail and a $750,000 fine.
Daniel was accused of embezzling at least $500,000 from his clients through real estate transactions. He told a judge he obtained the funds with authorization and did not intend to deprive clients permanently.
Daniel went missing in 2007 shortly after a 911 call was made from his cellphone. He was arrested last year crossing into California from Mexico.
