Congress Gets Earful About How Much GSA Is Spending
WASHINGTON (CBS4) - Tied to the General Services Administration in Lakewood, a congressional panel got an earful about how much the GSA is spending on Monday.
The agency is supposed to be making sure the government is operating efficiently, but GSA employees were attending a conference in Las Vegas that cost $823,000.
Now the waste may include possible bribery and kickbacks.
"They disregarded one of the most basic tenants of government service. It's not your money. It's the taxpayer's money," said U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland.
CNN reports other questionable spending includes moving one GSA employee from Denver to Hawaii at a cost of $330,000. That included a house hunting trip and temporary housing.
