Denver Police Officers Honored For Heroic Acts

DENVER (CBS4)- The Denver Police Department honored their own for exemplary service on Wednesday.

The Denver Police Foundation hosted the awards luncheon at the Brown Palace Hotel. The officers were awarded medals of honor, medals of valor and the department's distinguished service cross.

The officers were said to have shown remarkable courage and professionalism in dangerous situations.

Denver Police Chief Robert White said the officers are examples of how every Denver cop keeps us safe everyday.

"Today we're acknowledging 30 members of our department for doing extraordinary work and I am extremely proud of them but I want you to know that we also have another 1,400 men and women in this department and if they're confronted in a similar situation they will stand up to the plate and do the right thing every single day," said White.

The officers honored completed heroic actions like shooting violent robbers and kidnappers. One even donated a kidney to a fellow officer.
