Explosive Devices Found In Springs Charter School

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Parents in Colorado Springs voiced their concern with staff of a charter school after two explosive devices were found inside the building.

The parents are upset because they didn't learn about the discovery of the devices until days later.

Two propane canisters were found Monday at the Classical Academy. The district wasn't told until Thursday. That's when police called.

"The devices are designed to start a fire, so depending on when and where they could have caused some damage," a police officer said.

Some parents kept their children home from school Friday in protest of the school's handling of the situation. The school says the canisters were at first determined to be safe, and then placed in a secure location.

Police are questioning a student about the canisters.
