Community Asks For Donations To Help Fire Victims

CONIFER, Colo. (CBS4)- Some organizations are looking for specific donations to help families impacted by the Lower North Fork Fire.

The Mountain Resource Center in Conifer will be open this weekend to collect donations. Many people are already donating non-perishable food and clothing to help those who lost everything. Information can be found at mrcc.org.

Financial donations and gift cards are also needed. Gift cards to stores like Target, Walmart and grocery stores are the most in demand.

As of Friday evening, more than $13,000 in cash, PayPal and gift card donations had been received. The center is still accepting clothing and food, but the distribution is taking place at the middle school.

Jefferson County Horse Council is asking the Colorado Horsecare Foodbank to facilitate the donations that are coming in, like hay for horses.

A gentleman who owns a huge ranch in Nebraska is donating two semis of alfalfa. Information can be found at horsefoodbank.org.
