Man Shoots Woman In Head After Mistaking Mohawk For Bird

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4) - A major mix-up got one Grand Junction man five years of probation.

The 49-year-old says he shot a woman in the head when he mistook her large red mohawk for a bird that had been harassing his cats.

Prosecutors say the "bird" turned out to be a 23-year-old woman sleeping on a hill. Her injuries were not life threatening.
