Check Cashing Owner Shot During Robbery Attempt

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police are looking for two men who tried to rob the owner of a Ok Check Cashing business.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. Friday near Tejon and Evans. Police say the men approached the owner as he was leaving for the night. The owner and the men exchanged gunfire and the owner was shot.

The owner was rushed to Swedish Medical Center. He's expected to recover.

"You have to be very cautious and aware of your surroundings and aware of what's going on around you," Sonny Jackson with Denver police said. "If something does happen, call the authorities immediately."

Police towed a car away and there was a lot of evidence scattered in the parking lot.

Police do not have any solid leads on the gunmen. They don't know if either of the suspects were also shot.
