Back In Denver, Birgfeld's Father Looks Ahead

DENVER (CBS4) - Investigators are now plotting a way forward after finding remains believed to be those of Paige Birgfeld.

The mother from Grand Junction disappeared nearly five years ago. She was leading a double life, also running an escort service. Her remains were found in Wells Gulch near Delta earlier last week.

Her father Frank Birgfeld has been waiting almost 5 years for the news. He told CBS4 in Denver on Friday after spending several days on the Western Slope at the site of the discovery that he's happy but still doesn't have closure.

"You go day by day," he said. "Certainly one thing about an experience like this I wish I had read it in a book instead of learning it the way I had."

The only suspect in the case was a man named Lester Jones, a client of Birgfeld's escort service.

Jones was never arrested.
