Colorado Fugitive Wanted For Murder Remains Missing

BUENA VISTA, Colo. (AP) -- A Colorado fugitive wanted for murder remains at large.

The Chaffee County sheriff's office said Friday that it's exhausted all leads in searching for 46-year-old David Butler and is fielding tips from the community.

Deputies started looking for Butler Thursday after Colorado corrections officials alerted them that Butler was likely in the Mount Princeton area south of Buena Vista.

Deputies found a pickup truck registered to Butler, but failed to find him. Later that day, Undersheriff John Spezze noticed smoke from a nearby barn. Firefighters found a body inside that was burned beyond recognition.

The body hasn't been identified. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
