Blowing Dust Expected In Southeast Colorado Tuesday

PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - High winds that could create blowing dust are expected in southeast Colorado and the San Luis Valley on Tuesday.

National Weather Service forecasters say areas including Pueblo, La Junta, Lamar, Trinidad, Springfield and Alamosa could experience gusts up to 60 mph Tuesday, with blowing dust reducing visibility to less than 10 miles.

Forecasters say high-profile vehicles will be vulnerable to the threat of strong crosswinds, and the wind could cause tree damage or power outages. The National Weather Service says the strongest winds are likely in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Colorado health officials say the elderly, the very young, and those with respiratory problems should avoid prolonged exertion because of blowing dust, while everyone else should limit their time outdoors Tuesday.
