CSU Wants Public's Input On New Football Stadium

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Colorado State University wants to build a new football stadium and it's gathering input from fans and residents in Fort Collins.

CSU has said moving from Hughes Stadium west of town to an on-campus location would help energize the fans and the community. But President Tony Frank says a new facility must meet four requirements.

Frank says it cannot be built on existing open space, including CSU's intramural athletic fields. He says any significant views of the mountains on campus must be preserved. The school has to consider the impact of a new stadium on nearby neighborhoods. And money from the state, tuition and taxes cannot be used to pay for the new stadium.

Ten public forums will be held over the next couple of weeks. Registration is required. Visit a special webpage to RSVP for a forum.
