Monte Vista Police Seek Clues In Double Slaying

MONTE VISTA, Colo. (AP) -- Monte Vista police are trying to identify a person wearing a ski mask who was seen leaving the area where a couple were found dead.

Police found the bodies of 54-year-old John Salazar and 29-year-old Sarah Beasley at their home Monday after a report of gunshots. Police Chief Rick Needham says Beasley's three sons, all under age 10, ran to a neighbor's house for help.

Salazar was a school custodian. Beasley was studying to be a school counselor.

Police say "My drugs R not free" was painted on the home, but it's unclear if that means the killings are related to drugs, if the suspect went to the wrong home, or if the suspect is trying to mislead investigators.
