Canada-Quebec Wins Colorado Snow Sculpture Prize

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) - Snow carvers from Quebec took first place in the 22nd annual International Snow Sculpture Championships in Breckenridge over the weekend.

Team Canada-Quebec carved a scene of man sitting in front of ice houses - once used to preserve meat and fish in Quebec - out of a 20-ton block of snow.

Team Germany finished in second place and Team Baltic, representing Latvia and Estonia, took third.

Sixteen teams from 12 countries worked over five days to create their sculptures without the help of power tools, internal supports or dyes. Organizers say they worked through the night on Friday to finish in time for Saturday's 10 a.m. deadline.
