CBI: No Wrongdoing In Colorado Springs Hooters Sting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - An audit of an undercover liquor enforcement case at a Colorado Springs Hooters found no wrongdoing in the sting that involved officers who were drinking.

KKTV-TV reports the Colorado Bureau of Investigation audit of the sting at a Hooters made public Friday recommends changes to the Colorado Springs police department's investigative procedures. The report determined that officers did not lie about their drinking as part of their investigation. Officers are allowed to consume alcohol as part of their compliance investigations.

Charges against a waitress cited for alleged serving a visibly intoxicated man June 23 were dropped after her attorney raised questions about the drinking.

Among the recommendations in the report are developing ways to monitor the sobriety of officers who are drinking and better documentation of liquor purchases.
