DENVER (CBS4)– A Denver grand jury has formally indicted an Aurora man accused of terrorism.

Jamshid Muhtorov is charged with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

If convicted, Muhtorov, 35, faces at least 15 years in a federal prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

He was arrested Saturday at O’Hare Airport in Chicago. Investigators said he was on his way from Denver to Asia.

The government in Central Asia accused Muhtorov of supporting the Islamic Jihad Union, a militant group fighting the regime in Uzbekistan.

Investigators do not believe he was plotting any attacks against the U.S.
