More Students Graduating From Colorado Schools

DENVER (CBS4) - Good news from the classroom -- more students are graduating from Colorado high schools.

In Denver Public Schools Superintendent Tom Boasberg says that 175 more students graduated last spring, compared to the year before. That brings the district's 4-year graduation rate from nearly 52 percent up to 56 percent.

"In the last 2 years alone we've seen 500 more students in the Denver Public Schools wearing those caps and gowns and graduating from Denver Public Schools," Boasberg said.

That improvement is better than any of the 20 largest school districts in the state over the past 2 years.

Statewide the graduation rate went up a point and a half to nearly 74 percent.
