Driver Trapped For 12 Hours After Ending Up In Eagle River

EAGLE, Colo. (CBS4) - A driver who careened into the Eagle River and wasn't found for 10 hours says he knew it would take time to find him.

Daryl Rudolph crawled out of his Ford Explorer that rolled into the river between Eagle and Wolcott over the weekend.

The 29-year-old says he dosed off and crashed.

"I tried crawling up the embankment and realized that was next to impossible. So then I just kind of waved and screamed at any car that drove by. Finally after 10 hours of waiting there somebody saw me; thank God."

Rudolph says while he laid by the side of the river he thought a lot about a friend who had recently died.

He has a broken leg but says the seat belt prevented much worse injuries.
