Drivers Get Holiday Present At The Pumps

DENVER (CBS4) - Drivers are getting an early holiday present at the pumps as national gas prices are down 5 cents in the past two weeks.

The average is now at $3.24 cents a gallon. AAA Colorado says gasoline prices are dropping because demand is down and supply is up.

"Right now there is quite a good supply in the pipelines and the refineries. There's a lot of gas available and not a lot of people using it," Wave Dreher with AAA Colorado said.

The lower demand is also due in part to the economic crisis in Europe. Prices are expected to stay around the $3 level until spring.
