Colorado Makes First Step Toward Space Tourism

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Gov. John Hickenlooper wants a federal space port designation for Colorado. That could eventually lead to tourist flights into space.

If the Federal Aviation Administration approves the request a space port could be built at the Front Range Airport in Adams County. The property could be used for payload launches or possibly tourist flights.

In his letter, Hickenlooper said that Colorado is home to more than 140 aerospace companies. He hopes to get the designation approved by the end of the year.
