Man Expected To Survive After Getting Pinned Under RTD Bus

DENVER (CBS4) - A man is recovering from serious injuries after getting pinned under an RTD bus on Thursday evening.

It happened at the intersection of Colfax and High Street just before 8 p.m.

Witnesses say the man was sitting at the bus stop but didn't get up to get on the bus. Moments later he was lying on Colfax with the bus tire on top of his chest.

Paramedics responded quickly to the accident.

Hospital officials said Friday that the man has a broken pelvis and some injuries to his leg and stomach, where the skin was torn away. He is expected to survive.

Officials said the man is homeless and was recently released from the hospital for a different reason.

He was identified last night and is a transient that recently was released from DHMC for another reason.

The driver of the bus will not face charges in the accident.
