DIA Reports Smooth Sailing So Far For The Holiday

DENVER (CBS4) - Busy, but smooth. That's the word from Denver International Airport as holiday travelers make their way in and out of town.

The Transportation Security Administration is handling security a little different this year. The new TSA policy was actually rolled out 2 months ago, but Thanksgiving is the first test of the policy on a holiday.

Everybody knows that people have to remove their shoes when going through security. The new policy says children 12 years old and younger no longer have to remove their shoes.

"Trying to get him through security is no walk in the park. He wants to be running all over the place. Him taking his shoes off isn't going to make anything any easier," a father of a young boy said.

TSA said security wait times have been respectable this year. The longest wait all day on Wednesday was about 13 minutes.

TSA said it looks at the projected passenger volume and staffs accordingly.
