Fort Carson Says Goodbye To Acting Commander

FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) - Fort Carson is saying goodbye to the man who served as acting commander for much of the past 12 months.

A retirement and farewell ceremony will be held Monday for Brig. Gen. James H. Doty.

Doty was named acting commander at the infantry post outside Colorado Springs when Maj. Gen. David G. Perkins went to Iraq late last year. Perkins oversaw U.S. forces in the northern part of Iraq.

When Perkins' deployment ended, he was transferred to Fort Leavenworth, Kan., where he is commander of the Combined Arms Center. He oversees schools and training centers including air defense, armor, aviation, infantry and intelligence.

Maj. Gen. Joseph Anderson assumed command of Fort Carson and its 4th Infantry Division last week.
