Men Urged To Grow Mustaches During 'Movember'

DENVER (CBS4)- Men in Denver are encouraged to grow mustaches during what's called "Movember." Men are invited to grow out their mustache during prostate cancer awareness month in November.

"My wife isn't really crazy about it, but I told her what it was for so she's psyched about it," said one Denver Firefighter.

"I mean, look at Burt Reynolds and Sam Elliot," said another.

"It's for awareness. It's our guys' version of the pink shirt," said another Denver Firefighter.

With three weeks left in the month, it's not too late to participate in Movember.

"Last year, the Denver metro area raised $138,000. So this year, we're trying to organize a little bit better and get those people all together, get people to events," said Movember supporter Matt Bernier.

"I think it's more education and awareness. Guys, we don't communicate like women do but we still communicate. We need to communicate a little bit more and bring more awareness to mens' health in general," said Movember supporter Terry Lott.
