Grief Counselors On Hand At 2 High Schools After 2 Die In SUV Crash
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Grief counselors helped students at two schools deal with the loss of two friends killed in an accident over the weekend in Wheat Ridge.
Tyler Lovell, 18, and Rain Walsh, 17, died early Sunday morning when Lovell crashed his Nissan Pathfinder. Two other teens in the SUV, identified as Steve Miskimon and Andre Lang Watchman, both 19-year-old Lakewood residents, were critically injured.
Lovell and the two survivors went to Lakewood High School. On Monday students wrote tributes to them on the school grounds. Walsh attended Wheat Ridge High School.
Lakewood High Principal Ron Castagna said Lovell was a good kid who will be missed.
"I know our kids will find some way to grieve and some way to celebrate his life," Castagna said.
Family members visited the crash site Monday where there is now a small memorial.
Police said speed likely played a role in the accident. They are looking into whether alcohol was involved.
