Man Killed After Walking In Front Of Train In Arvada

ARVADA, Colo. (AP) - Arvada Police investigating a train fatal say they are trying to determine why a man walked into the path of the moving train Sunday morning.

Police spokeswoman Susan Medina said that a witness says the man was walking parallel to the train trucks before suddenly turning into the moving train. Medina said it appeared that the train's engine had already passed before the man walked onto the tracks.

Union Pacific Railroad spokesman Mark Davis said the crew of the train didn't know they had hit someone until they were contacted by police. The Grand Junction-bound freight train then stopped while police conducted their investigation.

Police did not immediately identify the man.
