Rape Charges Dropped Against Former Olympian

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Rape charges against a former Olympic wrestler have been dropped after the victim said she didn't want to testify again.

Prosecutors say the charges against Stephen Abas, 33, were dropped Monday as he was preparing to face a second trial on allegations he sexually assaulted a 20-year-old female wrestler.

Abas' attorney Dennis Hartley tells the Colorado Springs Gazette Abas is glad the ordeal is over so he can go home to his 2-year-old daughter.

Abas won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics and competed at the 2008 Olympic trials. He was forced to retire when an injury ruined his chances of making the national team.
