Jurors Begin Deliberations In Witness Slaying Case

DENVER (AP) -- A Denver jury has begun deliberations in the trial of a man accused of hiring a man to kill a woman who planned to testify in court against a gang leader.

The Denver Post reports that jurors began deliberations Thursday in the case against Willie Clark, who is serving a life sentence in the New Year's Day 2007 slaying of Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams. Clark faces first-degree murder charges in the December 2006 death of Kalonniann Clark, no relation.

Clark is accused of being one of two men who broke into Kalonniann Clark's home and gunning her down as she ran away. Willie Clark denies involvement and says he was at his cousin's house at the time of the slaying.

Two others already have been convicted.
