School Officer Files Defamation Lawsuit
CARBONDALE, Colo. (AP) -- A Carbondale police officer has filed a defamation lawsuit against an immigrant rights group that accused him of using his position as a school resource officer to report students for possible immigration violations.
Officer Alvaro Agon says allegations he was working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to identify undocumented immigrants were false and hurt his reputation.
According to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition named in the lawsuit held a community forum in Carbondale Thursday night to discuss the issue.
