DENVER (CBS4)- If your child’s music and sports lessons are breaking your budget, you may want to subscribe to an online deal service that specializes in those areas.

LessonUp is a Colorado company that finds deals on lessons that could help your child find his or her passion by unlocking hidden potential. It’s essentially a Groupon for the younger set.

Francesca Catellano put on her riding boots and hopped on Rose, a very friendly, gentle horse at Acres of Opportunity Ranch in Lafayette. It cost half the normal price of an equestrian lesson.

Francesca, 7, raved about her experience when CBS4 Money Saver Suzanne McCarroll asked her what she’s learned.

“How do you get him to stop? I pull back,” said Francesca.

Her mother, Jill Kranitz, thought horseback riding lessons would be too expensive until she found a 50 percent off coupon from LessonUp.

“When the email comes in, I know that it’s definitely something for my kids. With financial times right now, it’s great to get a deal,” said Kranitz.

Donnie Criswell started LessonUp when he realized what he was spending on his own daughter’s lessons.

“As a parent, I’m trying to expose my daughter to as many enrichment opportunities as possible and I found out expensive that can be,” said Criswell.

Subscribers to LessonUp can find 40 to 50 percent discounts on a variety of activities that kids enjoy.

“We’ve done deals with the YMCA, boot camp, skateboarding lessons, guitar lessons, yoga, cooking classes and clarinet lessons,” said Criswell.

Francesca said she would like to come back for lessons everyday.
