Hiker Missing For 36 Hours Found Alive With Injuries

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A 74-year-old hiker is recovering at Saint Anthony Hospital after getting lost for 36 hours.

Bob Johnson's ordeal began when he fell into a gully while hiking alone. It happened at Lair O' the Bear Park & Trails near Evergreen in Jefferson County.

An around-the-clock rescue effort began around 8 p.m. Thursday and ended with Johnson being carried for 2 hours down steep rocky terrain Friday night.

Johnson's daughter, Jennifer Johnson-Sigety, says she can't thank those who worked to find her father enough.

"He's back. I just want to praise the Lord because I know it was him that brought him in and all these awesome people, so thank you so much," Johnson-Sigety said.

Rescuers had a hard time finding Johnson because he couldn't help them with the search. He has hearing loss and couldn't hear them calling his name.
