DENVER (CBS4) – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and Alpine Search and Rescue found a missing man described as an avid hiker.

Bob Johnson, 74, was found at about 5:45 p.m. Friday in rocky, treacherous terrain. Rescue crews believe he may have fallen and he is injured.

Johnson was hiking in the Lair O’ Bear Park and did not return when he was expected. His wife found his car. Lair O’ Bear Park is located west of Morrison near Ideldale.

Johnson suffers from mild dementia, which can get worse when he’s tired. He’s believed to have gone hiking in only a light jacket.

About 60 searchers looked for him.
