Costume Sale So Popular, It's Scary!

DENVER (CBS4)- The Denver Center Theatre Company's costume sale turned out to be very popular this year.

The line was already around the corner when the doors opened at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Newman Center for Theatre Education. There wasn't much of a selection left by Thursday afternoon.

"We've got costumes from all kinds of plays, Shakespeare plays, contemporary plays, fantastical things, all kinds of things that you won't find at a store anywhere," said costume designer Kevin Copenhaven.

The sale includes all types of handmade costumes and accessories from previous productions. Prices range from $1 to $250.

"I was actually looking for some Steampunk, but then I found that and how can I say no to that?," said one shopper.

The last time the Denver Center Theatre Company hosted such a sale was in 1992, so when doors opened there was quite a selection.

The sale is scheduled to continue Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until everything is gone.
