City Says It Will Foot Bill For Sewage Leak Into Homes
BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) - The city of Brighton as well as Adams County are now footing the clean-up bill for people whose homes were flooded by raw sewage.
The city says the sewage spill this summer came from the Adams County Jail because inmates were flushing things down cell toilets.
Audrey Gress homeowner told CBS4 part of her home had to be stripped to the frame to eliminate the contamination.
The sewage poured from the airvents, filling her basement and bathrooms.
"My house was my home and I love my home, so it's hard to see it like this," she said.
The city says it wasn't even aware of the sewage line until it got clogged. It has not been maintained in a long time.
