Police In Boulder Search For ATM 'Skimming' Suspect
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Detectives in Boulder are looking for a thief using ATMs to steal from his victims.
Boulder County sheriff investigators on Wednesday released photos of a man trying to conceal his identity at an area ATM. He put a skimming device on an ATM that can read personal information. He used that information to steal more than $11,000 from a woman's bank account.
Boulder investigators say the tactic has been used to steal more than $100,000 from several victims this year.
"If other cases are similar to that, or more than that, then maybe we're not talking about as many victims as I thought," Det. Sam Hard with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.
The thief likely faces felony charges of theft and identity theft.
