Friends, Relatives Gather To Remember David Hartley 1 Year Later

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Friends and family gathered to remember David Hartley on Friday in Larimer County. One year ago he was murdered along the Mexican border.

No arrests have been made and his body has never been found.

David and his wife Tiffany Hartley were jet skiing in Texas when Tiffany says members of a Mexican drug cartel pulled up in boats and opened fire. David Hartley died. Tiffany escaped unharmed.

Friday was the one year anniversary of David's death and now his mother is pleading to Mexico's president to find her son.

"If this was his child could he honestly say that everything has been done to bring his child home?" Pam Hartley said.

Tiffany Hartley has been unable to obtain a death certificate because the case is still open. Sen. Michael Bennet is working with the state department to help her get the paperwork she needs to settle family business.
