Trial In Tow Truck Driver's Death Pushed Back

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- A judge has pushed back the trial date for a woman accused in the death of a tow truck driver who was dragged.

A judge on Friday moved the trial for Detra Farries from November to Jan. 30.

The Gazette reports the judge was concerned that holiday travel plans could make it difficult to seat jurors and ensure witnesses are available for testimony.

Farries faces charges including manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident in the death of Allen Lew Rose. Prosecutors say she jumped in a vehicle Rose was trying to tow in February and drove away. They say Rose was dragged after he got tangled in a tow cable.

Farries' relatives have said Farries didn't realize Rose was being dragged.
