Teller County Sheriff's Office Falls Victim To Credit Card Fraud

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The Teller County sheriff and three of his deputies are among at least 100 people victimized by a credit card scam.

The sheriff said he used his debit card in the town of Divide last week. Suspicious charges started showing up this week.

The card had been used in stores along the East Coast and in the south.

"We live in hard economic times and as a result of that these types of crimes are happening," Teller County Sheriff Mike Ensminger said.

The sheriff isn't sure how the crimes happened but his department is investigating. He said it is a lesson that everyone should check their bank accounts frequently.
