Volunteers Restoring Central City Home
CENTRAL CITY, Colo. (AP) - Volunteers are doing restoration work on a historic house in the former Colorado mining town of Central City.
Colorado Preservation Inc. says the work is being done Saturday and Sunday on the McFarlane House.
The work includes cutting down trees and bushes and some excavation.
It's part of the HistoriCorps program, a public-private partnership modeled after community service programs like the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps.
HistoriCorps' goal is creating jobs, teaching preservation maintenance and traditional building skills, and advancing sustainable technology for historic buildings on public land.
