Groups Cleaning Up Scenic Colorado Mountain Drive

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - A group promoting a scenic 40-mile driving loop in the foothills and mountains above Denver is sponsoring a litter cleanup.

Volunteers will be picking up trash along the Lariat Loop National Scenic Byway on Saturday. The Lariat Loop Heritage Alliance is sponsoring the cleanup with help from EDS Waste Solutions and several civic, recreation and service organizations.

Attractions on the route include the Boettcher Mansion, Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave, the Colorado Railroad Museum, Lookout Mountain Nature Center and Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater.

The loop includes portions of Lookout Mountain Road, U.S. 40, Colorado 74, Colorado 93 and other highways.
