Report About Suspicious Truck Turns Out To Be Nothing

DENVER (CBS4) - Homeland Security, Denver police and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation set up a large perimeter outside the Denver Justice Center Friday night because of a suspicious truck.

The bomb squad was even called to check things out.

Once inside the truck, emergency officials determined there was no threat involved and the area was opened once again.

With the incident happening so close to the 9/11 anniversary, it serves as a reminder that it's still important for people to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said he hopes that message is strongly heard as the city gets ready for Sunday's peaceful 9/11 anniversary remembrance event at Civic Center Park.

"Though we don't have any specific threat for Denver or Colorado, we're going to do everything we can to make sure we take the extra steps and make sure there are more officers involved and that we're trying to cover the entire Civic Center Park from various different angles," Hancock said.

The Colorado Department of Public Safety has set up a website (ciac.co.gov) where anyone can report suspicious behavior or activities.
