Fort Carson To Honor 14 Who Died In Afghanistan

FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) - Fort Carson is holding a memorial service for 14 soldiers who died in Afghanistan.

The service is planned Thursday.

It will honor members of the 4th Infantry Division's 1st Brigade Combat Team who died during their yearlong deployment.

The dead include Chaplain Dale A. Goetz Jr., a captain from White, S.D. He is believed to be the first chaplain killed in the line of duty since the Vietnam War. He and four others were killed when a roadside bomb hit their vehicle.
