Motel Shooting Sunday Night A Mystery So Far

DENVER (CBS4) - Police are asking for help finding the person responsible for killing a man in a Denver hotel.

The man died on Sunday evening after he was shot in the head at the Knights Inn Motel at 26th and Zuni.

More than 12 police cars and dozens of officers were called out to investigate at about 5 p.m. and spent several hours at the scene.

Officers said they don't know what led to the shooting.

Police say the killer is probably a man who took off in a white Suburban.

"We originally thought we may have had a suspect, however at this time we are not confident we have a suspect in custody. We believe the suspect has fled the area," Lt. Matt Murray said.

An officer was hurt responding to the scene while running up the stairs. He fell and broke his collarbone.
