West Metro Firefighters Practice For Sept. 11 Memorial Climb

MORRISON, Colo. (CBS4) - Firefighters are starting to prepare for the 10-year remembrance of the Sept. 11 attacks.

On Tuesday some West Metro firefighters, in full gear, practiced climbing the stairs at Red Rocks. On the morning of Sept. 11 they will climb 110 stories to remember the sacrifices first responders made in the Twin Towers.

"What keeps you going is you think about what those guys went through that day 10 years ago," said Shawn Duncan, West Metro firefighter and paramedic. "Now it's nothing compared to that, we get to go home and they didn't."

Duncan says in addition to paying tribute to their fallen comrades the event focuses on the importance of firefighter fitness.
