Parents Confused Over School Voucher Ruling

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) - Parents in Douglas County private schools are wondering where to send their children after a Denver judge stopped the district from implementing a voucher program.

School district spokesman Randy Barber says officials are still trying to sort out an injunction issued Friday stopping schools from implementing the program.

According to the Denver Post, many public schools began classes on Aug. 1, while some private schools delayed opening until next week.

Denver District Judge Michael Martinez said the program to give parents in the state's wealthiest county checks for tuition at religious schools a disservice to the public interest.
