CSU Rams Players, Coaches Driven To Do Better

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - The coaches and the players for the CSU Rams football team took to the field for photo shoots and interviews on Wednesday.

For the past two seasons Colorado State University has had a 3-9 record.

Steve Fairchild is entering his fourth year as the head coach of the Rams. He said he knows the heat is on to do better, but he said he also knows there's pressure from the moment a coach takes a job.

"It was hot the first day I took it. You can go 9-3 and turn around the next year and get fired, that's just part of the deal. I knew what I was getting into. I knew this was going to be a multi-year thing and I knew there would be some bumps in the road, but I think we do need to show some improvement, there's no question."

Linebacker Mike Orakpo said the words he'd use to describe last season would be ashamed and embarrased.

"Especially after the last two games -- it was awful. A lot of us, we use that as good thing, as a plus going into this season; we know that we can't half step anyting. ... The way we ended last season, that just can't happen. It was embarrassing," Orakpo said.

The worst loss of last season came when Wyoming beat CSU 44-0.
