Colorado Springs To Go After Stormwater Deadbeats

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado Springs City Council is going after homeowners who don't pay their stormwater fees.

The council voted Tuesday to include $1.6 million in unpaid stormwater fees in county property tax bills. The amount will be listed on tax bills as a fee, but if left unpaid, it would be treated the same as an unpaid tax.

According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, council president Scott Hente says that 96 percent of those billed paid the fee and it would be unfair not to collect from the last 18,000 who owe.
