Colorado Panel To Interview Judge Candidates In September

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - The commission choosing nominees to be a judge in Colorado's First Judicial District is set to meet Sept. 15 to interview candidates for Gov. John Hickenlooper to appoint.

The vacancy is being created because Chief Judge R. Brooke Jackson has been confirmed to be a federal judge in Colorado. He plans to resign effective Sept. 2.

Eligible applicants must be qualified electors of the district, which covers Gilpin and Jefferson counties. They also must have been admitted to the practice of law in Colorado for five years. The annual salary is $128,598.

Applications are due Aug. 26.
